HOLLYWOOD STAMP CLUB
The doors to the Lippman Center open at 5 PM on most every Tuesday (don't come if there is a Holiday or Hurricane as the building will be closed). Lots of free parking across the street.
Every person attending will sign in and receive a ticket for a drawing to be held about 7PM.
Each week we have an auction of our members philatelic items with a lot starting at a minimum of $5.00 (could be higher). Each member is allowed to bring up to 10 auction lots of stamps, stamp supplies (including stamp mounts, albums, catalogues, tongs), stamp related literature, old postcards, envelopes with postage (covers), and anything of a philatelic nature.
The preview of the lots lasts about 2 hours, during which members and guests can enjoy club supplied coffee (decaf and regular) and cake (sometimes we get home-baked-- yum). We are also a convivial group and the room is abuzz with conversation and a bit of trading and selling among the attendees.
NOTE: YOU MUST BE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING IN ORDER TO SELL- GUESTS CAN BUY AND BID AT THE AUCTION.
The auction starts about about 7 PM and we make every attempt to be finished by 8:30 so we can settle up and be out before 9 PM.
Several times a year (any month with 5 Tuesdays) we have a special GO-GO auction. It is a silent auction with each member allowed to bring up to 25 lots. At those times we allow other than philatelic items to be sold as long as they are collectible. We have had such items as books, coins, artwork, models, comics, silverware, cameras, etc. It is fun and exciting evening.
